The USDA Farm and Food Workers Relief Program
A One-Time $600 Payments to Farmworkers, Meatpacking Workers Through New USDA Relief Grant
The U.S. Department of Agriculture USDA’s Farm and Food Workers Relief Program (FFWR) provides a one-time, $600 payment for expenses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you were a frontline worker in USDA approved farming and meatpacking activities during the pandemic period, you may qualify.
This is a benefit that is released once per verified eligible worker. This is not a renewable nor annual benefit. Once a worker has been verified as eligible, the worker is to receive a single $600 payment to be released in a single financial transaction.
Eligible beneficiaries for this program are defined as hired workers in farming activities or meatpacking excluding those working in management positions.
Immigration status is not one of the eligibility criteria under this program. While assertions and/or documentation regarding citizenship status are not required, workers must provide proof of identity and proof of employment.
Timeframe: Relief payments are available to eligible workers who performed work in farming activities and meatpacking work between January 27, 2020, the date upon which the COVID–19 public health emergency was declared by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act, until the end of the COVID–19 public health emergency on May 11, 2023.
There is no cost to apply for the Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR). Only organizations awarded the grant by the USDA may process Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR) applications. Never provide personal documents or any form of identification to unapproved organizations.
